  20. reports that her doctor told her that she has "female prostatic obstruction".
  21. Come on now, everyone knows that the prostate is found only in men!  What is
  22. this, another medical put on?

  26. ANSWER:  No, it is not a put on, though the explanation surely must have been
  27. accompanied by additional information.  In certain cases of obstruction of the
  28. neck of the bladder, which can cause symptoms ranging from painful urination
  29. (dysuria) to complete bladder obstruction, the cause is thought to be the
  30. inflammation or growth of glandular tissue found in the area.  It is known as
  31. "Marions' Disease" or the "Bladder Neck Syndrome".  Because x-rays of the
  32. region show a pattern similar to that seen in men with prostatic enlargement,
  33. it has also been called "female prostatic obstruction," although many authors
  34. dispute both the name and this explanation for the condition.  However,
  35. surgical removal of the tissue yields good results.
